Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni is facing a formal complaint filed with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The complaint, submitted by Rajesh Kumar Maurya from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, has been addressed to the BCCI Ethics Committee and falls under BCCI Rule 39.

The issue revolves around a fraud case involving Rs 15 crore, which Dhoni has lodged against Mihir Diwakar in the Ranchi Civil Court. The BCCI Ethics Committee has requested a response from Dhoni by August 30. Rajesh Kumar Maurya has also been asked to provide his response by September 16.

The case, which centers on alleged fraud by former cricketer Mihir Diwakar, Soumya Das, and Aarka Sports Management Pvt Ltd, was initiated by Dhoni. On March 20, 2024, the Ranchi Civil Court deemed the case prima facie valid and issued summons to the accused. Dhoni’s legal action stems from claims that Diwakar breached their agreement, which was terminated in 2021. Despite this, Diwakar’s company continued using Dhoni’s name and opening academies both domestically and internationally without fulfilling the agreed profit-sharing terms.

Dhoni has reportedly incurred a loss of approximately Rs 15 crore due to these violations. His lawyer, Dayanand Singh, has challenged Diwakar’s claims on social media. In response, Diwakar has also filed a case against Dhoni in Kanpur Court as of February 1. Dhoni is expected to address these allegations and respond to the BCCI by the end of August.
