Lok Sabha MP and suspended Congress leader Preneet Kaur voted in favor of the Lok Sabha Ethics Panel’s report on ‘cash-for-query’ charges against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, according to panel Chairman Vinod Kumar Sonkar. Preneet Kaur, the wife of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, is currently in the BJP.

The Parliamentary Ethics Committee adopted the report on Thursday, with Kaur among the six members supporting it and four opposed. Kaur’s decision to vote against Moitra was backed by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who commended her for standing uncompromisingly for national security. Kaur was suspended from the Congress in February for alleged anti-party activities and supporting the BJP.

Moitra, accused of ‘cash-for-questions,’ faced allegations of targeting the Adani Group in Lok Sabha at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani. The Ethics Committee’s draft report accuses Moitra of ‘unethical conduct,’ sharing her login credentials, and raising concerns about her visits to the UAE.

Vinod Sonkar confirmed that the report was adopted by a majority vote and sent to the Lok Sabha Speaker, stating that some members tried to obstruct the probe. The draft report reveals that Moitra’s login was accessed multiple times from Dubai, raising concerns about the fairness of the inquiry and prompting opposition MPs to submit dissent notes. The committee will submit the report to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for further action.
