Balkaur Sidhu, the father of the murdered Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, expressed dismay over the virtual appearance of the accused involved in his son’s murder case. He voiced that commitments were made to ensure that the indicted individuals would be physically present in court.

He expressed, “We had been assured that the accused would appear in person. However, they were not adequately presented on the Video Conference. Today, out of the 25 accused, only 22 were produced. Lawrence Bishnoi remained silent due to observing a ‘Maun Vrat’ (vow of silence) today. We feel quite helpless in this situation.” The delay in producing the accused in court has subsequently held up the process of transferring the chargesheet to the district & sessions court, where the trial concerning the murder is in progress.

The next scheduled hearing for this case is set for November 2. On May 29 last year, Sidhu Moosewala, 28, tragically lost his life in Mansa due to a point-blank shooting, just a day after the state government reduced his security detail. The attackers fired more than 30 rounds at Moosewala, who was later discovered by locals, seated lifelessly in his vehicle. This horrific event transpired just two days post the Punjab Police’s decision to revoke the security privileges of 424 individuals, Moosewala included. The Punjab Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has submitted three chargesheets against a total of 32 accused. This list includes notorious gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. It’s believed that this assassination was a result of an ongoing vendetta between the rival Bishnoi and Bambiha gangs.

Further inquiries have pinpointed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as the mastermind behind the brutal murder. Goldy Brar, identified as a close accomplice of Bishnoi and believed to be in Canada, is also under investigation concerning this case. In light of this, the police have issued a Red Corner Notice for Brar via Interpol.

It’s noteworthy that Moosewala had previously contested an election in Mansa during the last Punjab Assembly elections as a Congress candidate. However, he faced defeat at the hands of AAP’s Vijay Singla.
