MP Kartikeya Sharma posed the question in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday regarding the protection, rehabilitation, and financial support for women victims of trafficking. He also asked about the states’ plan after a girl child is declared eligible for financial assistance.
In a written reply in the Upper House, Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani said that the Ministry of Women and Child Development has been carrying out “Mission Shakti,” To help women who are going through terrible circumstances and enable them to live dignified lives, the ministry has combined Swadhar Greh and Ujjwala Grih into ‘Shakti Sadan’. A night and rehabilitation home is available. Its goal is to handle challenging and constrained circumstances. To establish a setting that is secure and supportive of women. The criteria of the states and UTs are met, and funds are released in accordance with those requirements, under the, centrally supported scheme.
The government has been taking steps to provide and protect children in conflict with the law and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 (JJ Act). JJ Act is prepared to give these kids institutional and non-institutional care.
The minister said that “Children who are found unsafe, are accused of drug abuse, or are likely to be trafficked are “in need of care and protection.”
She went on to say that the Ministry of Women and Child Development is prepared to safeguard and rehabilitate kids going through difficult circumstances. For the purpose of providing care, protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration, the government has launched “Mission Vatsalya.”
