Indian content creator Malik SD Khan, known as Malik Swashbuckler on social media, has come under intense criticism for posting highly offensive and derogatory content targeting Turkish women. The uproar led to legal action, the deletion of content, and multiple public apologies.
Derogatory Remarks and Offensive Videos
Khan attracted massive outrage after he uploaded videos from Turkey, where he frequently objectified local women. He used offensive terms to refer to them and made several misogynistic remarks. In one now-deleted video, Khan went so far as to issue rape threats.
He asked his viewers in Hindi if he should rape his Turkish guide at night, a statement that triggered a strong reaction from audiences both in Turkey and India.
YouTuber Issues Public Apology in Turkish
Following the backlash, Khan took to Instagram to post an apology note in Turkish. When translated to English, the message reads:
“I apologize with all my heart. I never intended to hurt or upset anyone. If my words or actions hurt anyone, please know that it was completely unintentional. It hurts me to know that I upset people. I questioned myself, and I promise to be much more careful from now on. With respect and love. I truly, sincerely apologize.”
Legal Action and Police Custody
According to a report in Türkiye Today, authorities took Khan into custody for his remarks. The police noted that he used Hindi in his videos to avoid detection and scrutiny while recording offensive content in Turkey.
In the wake of the controversy, Malik Swashbuckler deactivated both his YouTube and Instagram accounts. He has since restored them but removed all video content. Only two apology posts remain on Instagram. His YouTube channel currently has no videos, and the bio now reads, “I Am Aware of My Mistake—Apologies, Türkiye.”
Adding to the controversy, Khan also uploaded a video berating a Turkish shopkeeper for not displaying an Indian flag among other world flags. His abusive language in the video drew criticism from Indian viewers, further damaging his online reputation.
