US Supreme Court Won’t Intervene in Donald Trump’s Upcoming Sentencing

The US Supreme Court has decided not to intervene in Donald Trump’s upcoming sentencing for his conviction in New York state court. This decision means Trump’s sentencing, scheduled for September 18, will proceed as planned. The conviction relates to felony charges involving hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

The Supreme Court’s decision came in response to a lawsuit filed by Missouri, which argued that the case against Trump infringes on voters’ rights to hear from the Republican presidential nominee as he campaigns to regain the White House. Missouri contended that delaying Trump’s sentencing until after the November 5 election would ensure voters could fully engage with the presidential race.

Trump, who was found guilty in May of all 34 counts related to falsifying business records in a scheme to influence the 2016 election, is currently the Republican nominee for the presidential election. He is set to face off against Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate, in the upcoming election.
