Outrage & Mourning Erupt In Pakistan After Sindhi Leader Jameel Goro’s Killing

VV. Goro Sindhi died at a Karachi trauma center on August 25 after being attacked in Hyderabad on August 19 by individuals suspected to be linked with Pakistani state agents, according to JSFM.

JSFM Chairman Sohail Abro and other leaders, including Zubair Sindhi, Amar Azadi, Farhan Sindhi, Hafeez Deshi, Mark Sindhu, and Hoshu Sindhi, issued a joint statement condemning the attack. They compared it to the assassination of Shafi Muhammad Karnani, calling both incidents part of a broader pattern of state-sponsored violence against Sindhi nationalists.

Goro Sindhi, a prominent JSFM figure, was active in protests and rallies addressing critical issues like missing persons, forced conversions of Sindhi Hindu girls, Sindh’s unity, and the protection of Karoonjhar Mountain. His leadership, especially during the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances on August 30 last year, reportedly made him a target of state authorities, as per the JSFM statement.

While the JSFM leaders claim to know the identities of those responsible for Goro Sindhi’s death, they are refraining from naming specific political parties to avoid compromising national interests. They have, however, warned that continued protection of the perpetrators could lead to serious consequences.

Chairman Sohail Abro has called for all freedom-oriented organizations in Sindh to unite in seeking justice for Jameel Goro Sindhi and urged them to file a murder case in his name, asserting that the Sindhi nation honors its martyrs. The JSFM remains committed to honoring his legacy and continuing the fight for Sindhi rights.
