Indian Embassy Inaugurates New Ward Building At Dhulikhel Hospital In Nepal

On Wednesday, the new ward building at Dhulikhel Hospital in Dhulikhel Municipality, Kavrepalanchowk, Nepal, was officially opened up. The hospital was inaugurated by Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. The Indian Embassy in Nepal shared in a post on X, “India-Nepal partners in Development, Ward Building of Dhulikhel Hospital at Dhulikhel Municipality, Kavrepalanchowk was inaugurated today by Shri Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary.” The post further stated, “This High Impact Community Development Project #HICDP is built with Government of India’s financial assistance under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’.”

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said that the project was finished at a total expense of NPR 42.60 million as part of the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ initiative. “The Government of India grant under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ was utilised for the construction of ward building with other facilities for this hospital. The project was taken up as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) under an Agreement between the Government of India and the Government of Nepal. This project was implemented through Dhulikhel Municipality, Kavrepalanchowk. The project is an important example of the robust development partnership between India and Nepal,” the release stated.

The mayor of Dhulikhel Municipality, along with political representatives, the Executive Director, and the Administrative Director of Dhulikhel Hospital, expressed their gratitude for the ongoing developmental support from the Government of India in key areas for the benefit of the Nepalese people. They highlighted that the new ward buildings will enhance the quality of infrastructure and improve the healthcare environment in Nepal. Since 2003, the Indian government has undertaken over 551 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal, completing 490 of them. Of these, 106 projects are located in Bagmati Province, including 7 in Kavrepalanchowk. Additionally, India has donated 1,009 ambulances and 300 school buses to hospitals, health posts, and schools in Nepal, with 236 ambulances and 98 school buses allocated to Bagmati Province, including eight school buses and 16 ambulances in Kavrepalanchowk District.

Dhulikhel Hospital received an Advanced Life Support ambulance as a gift in January 2021. This ambulance plays a crucial role in providing initial treatment and greatly enhances emergency healthcare services. “As close neighbours, India and Nepal share wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs reflects the continued support of the Government of India in bolstering the efforts of the Government of Nepal in upliftment of its people, augmenting infrastructure in the field of priority sectors,” the release from the embassy stated. The inauguration event was graced by the presence of the mayor, officials from Dhulikhel Municipality, political figures, government representatives, hospital management, and social workers.
