Elon Musk has extended an invitation to Vice President Kamala Harris for an interview on his social media platform, X, following a widely watched two-hour conversation with former President Donald Trump. The interview with Trump, which aired live on X Spaces, attracted a staggering 16.4 million viewers, setting new records for the platform.
Musk, clearly pleased with the success of the Trump interview, took to X to say, âHappy to host Kamala on an đ Spaces too.â The offer comes at a crucial time as the U.S. heads to the polls in the next two months. However, it remains uncertain if Harris will accept the invitation, as she has not participated in a public interview for over three weeks.
In response to the Trump interview, Harrisâs campaign team was quick to issue a statement, condemning the event. The statement labeled the conversation as âwhatever that wasâ and criticized Trumpâs agenda as âextremism and dangerous,â asserting that it is a core part of his campaign. âDonald Trumpâs extremism and dangerous Project 2025 agenda is a feature not a glitch of his campaign, which was on full display for those unlucky enough to listen in tonight during whatever that was on X.com,â the campaign stated.
The Harris campaign didnât hold back on its criticism of Musk either, accusing him of being aligned with Trumpâs interests. They described Musk as a âlackey for Team MAGAâ and suggested that his support for Trump is a threat to democracy. âTrumpâs entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himselfâself-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024,â the statement read.
Even as Musk and Trump engaged in their conversation, the Harris campaign was busy sending out fundraiser emails, urging supporters to âchip in $25 nowâ to counter what they described as Muskâs attempt to âseize controlâ of democracy by hosting Trump on his platform. The campaignâs message was clear: âItâs not enough that Musk has pledged to donate millions of dollars to help reelect Trump. Heâs using his purchased platformâone of the largest social media sites in the worldâto spread Trumpâs unhinged and hateful agenda to millions of users.â
During the interview, Trump launched a fierce verbal assault on Harris, calling her a âthird-rate phoney candidateâ and claiming she is âmore incompetentâ than President Joe Biden. âSheâs incompetent, and he (Biden) is incompetent. And frankly, I think that sheâs more incompetent than he is, and thatâs saying something because heâs not too good,â Trump remarked. He further asserted that Harris would never agree to an interview with Musk, boasting that only he had the courage to do so.
As the political landscape intensifies, all eyes will be on whether Kamala Harris accepts Muskâs invitation and how this unfolding dynamic will influence the upcoming election.
