Rob Jobson’s forthcoming book, ‘Catherine, the Princess of Wales’, discloses that Prince William prohibited Meghan Markle from donning Princess Diana’s jewelry at her wedding. This decision underscores the longstanding tensions between William and Harry, even before Meghan became an official member of the royal family.

Early Discord and Concerns

According to the biography, William was apprehensive about Harry’s relationship with Meghan from the start. He allegedly advised Harry to take a step back from the relationship to allow Meghan more time to adjust to royal life. William’s concerns extended to preventing Meghan from wearing Diana’s iconic jewelry, which contrasted with Catherine’s access to similar pieces due to her rank.

Strained Relations and Protocol Issues

The book also highlights that the rift between the Sussexes and the Waleses started before Meghan’s official entry into the family in 2018. William and Kate Middleton’s discomfort with the swift progression of Harry and Meghan’s relationship worsened the situation. Jobson notes that Harry took William’s suggestion to cool the relationship as an insult, which significantly damaged their bond. This discord is further detailed in Harry’s memoir, Spare, which includes allegations of a physical confrontation between the brothers.

Cultural and Protocol Friction

Jobson’s book also details Meghan’s initial struggles with royal protocols, including an incident where she borrowed Catherine’s lip gloss, causing visible discomfort. These early interactions set the stage for the ongoing friction within the royal family.

These new revelations follow the publication of Harry’s memoir, which also exposed the depth of the discord between the brothers and their attempts to influence their father’s marriage to Camilla, the Queen Consort.
