Whether it’s long ruffled or floaty dresses, Meghan Markle is known for her elegant style, which has evolved significantly since moving to California with Prince Harry to start a new chapter in their lives.

The Duchess of Sussex recently embraced a new fashion trend during her visit to Nigeria with Harry. She looked stunning at every public event, choosing to wear trousers, skirts, and dresses that were slightly too long for her 5ft 6in frame. Instead of tailoring her maxi outfits to fit her height precisely, she often wears clothes that not only enhance her fashion sense but also trail on the ground as she walks.

At her first stop in Abuja, she wore the Windsor dress in blush silk, aptly named and costing £1,106.

In the evening, the Duchess spent time with Harry at Wuse Lightway Academy, donning a frock that swept the floor as she joyfully danced around. In Lagos, she chose a Carolina Herrera Silk Overlay Column gown from the Fall 2019 RTW Collection in a striking ‘Taxi Cab’ yellow.

For her visit to the Lagos State Governor’s Office, she again opted for a long, vivid, and flashy outfit that dragged across the grass yard.

Last summer, Meghan wore an all-brown outfit at the Invictus Games with Harry in Frankfurt and a NATO conference. This ensemble included a chocolate-colored blouse and pleated taupe trousers that reached the ground’s surface.

Celebrity stylist Rochelle White, speaking to the Daily Mail, mentioned that Meghan prefers long clothing to cover her feet and create the illusion of height.

“Long dresses and trousers, depending on body type, can help to elongate the body and shape. They can make you look taller and depending on the styles can help to define areas of the body you either want to highlight or cover up,” she explained.

Rochelle pointed out that Meghan looks taller when standing next to Prince Harry, who is 6ft 2in, because of her clothing choices.

Highlighting that these styles allow the Duchess to showcase her silhouette, the stylist remarked that Meghan has a keen understanding of her body and knows which materials suit her best.

Rochelle also compared Meghan’s wardrobe with Kate Middleton’s, noting that the Princess of Wales leans towards conventional dressing.

She observed that while Meghan loves a trendy and modern look that reflects her personality, Kate’s fashion choices are very classic and chic.

She concluded that Meghan’s style is seen as more relaxed and personal, whereas Kate prefers fitted gowns and tailored pants.
