The premiere art and culture institution of India Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra opened their ‘Kendra Dance Festival 2023,’ with a dance-drama ‘Meera’ at the Kamani Auditorium on Thursday in the presence atleast 400 enthusiastic viewers. The dance drama was based on the life, devotion and sacrifice of the poetess of Rajasthan- Meera. In an artistically rich presentation of Meera’s travails, the Kendra has made an attempt to remain as authentic as possible in production values. The choreography relies on the rich Rajasthani dance culture and keeps in view the cyclical evolution of Meera over the decades.

Artist Molina Singh, who played the role of ‹MEERA›, said, «It was one of the rare moments when the dance and the audience were in complete sync. The symbiotic energy between me and the audience transcended me to a higher level. It was beautiful, it was meditation.
KARNA portrayed a persona of the epic of Mahabharata whose circumstances remained consistently hostile. This dance drama was held on Saturday. Karna’s life and times were frozen in their entirety and his misfortunes suspended into a perpetual predicament. This ballet is dedicated to all the Karnas, who are denied the rightful place in the social milieu, seen in its correct perspective. Karna’s life was repetitively unfair, eliciting sympathy. His life in the epic is resplendent with magnificent misadventures and acts of valour.  SHREE DURGA, whose persona resonates‎ even in today’s context, where there is daily exposure to the atrocities on women was held on Sunday. When the Gods give boons they themselves become victims of these boons and it is then that they invoke Shree Shakti; feminine power, to vanquish demons in society, demonstrating that female power conquers over the several mindless demons of society.
