The SMS Medical College has taken decisive action in response to serious allegations of harassment against a female resident doctor. Following the formation of an investigation committee to probe the matter, the college administration has suspended the accused, a second-year resident from the Biochemistry department, pending further orders.

The controversy erupted after a social media post by the female resident doctor, which went viral, revealed her grave concerns about harassment and threats from a fellow resident. In her post, she described the accused as a “womanizer” who had made threats against her, expressing fears of severe repercussions such as rape or murder.
She also criticised the accused’s behaviour as unworthy of someone in the medical profession and called for action to prevent such incidents.

In response to the allegations and the demands from the Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors (JARD), the college principal, Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, confirmed the suspension of the accused. Dr. Maheshwari stated that the decision was made based on the committee’s preliminary report and in response to pressure from JARD representatives.
JARD President Dr. Manohar Siyol emphasised the organisation’s commitment to addressing and preventing harassment, stating that such behaviour would not be tolerated.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion within the college, highlighting the urgent need for measures to ensure the safety and respect of female residents.
