With the goal of fostering community development and maintaining a clean, sustainable, and vibrant city, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has established the ‘PRARAMBH’ stall—an eco-friendly and sustainable products initiative in collaboration with ARPAN Self-Help Group (SHG). This initiative is set up outside the Sai Temple in Sector 29 on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti.
In addition to the eco-friendly stall, MC Chandigarh is conducting a comprehensive cleaning drive of worship places, which includes activities such as sweeping, litter picking, cleaning dustbins, and collecting floral waste. This proactive approach underscores MC Chandigarh’s unwavering commitment to cleanliness and hygiene in all public spaces.
MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, emphasizing that PRARAMBH represents a significant stride towards sustainable development and waste management in the city. Through the recycling of floral waste and the promotion of eco-friendly products, MC Chandigarh is not only preserving the environment but also creating livelihood opportunities for women. She encouraged residents and visitors to support PRARAMBH and contribute to collective efforts for a greener and cleaner Chandigarh.
Mitra emphasized that supporting such initiatives allows citizens to play a role in creating a cleaner and greener environment while endorsing sustainable practices in their daily lives. The initiative serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible waste management and highlights how small actions can positively impact the community and the environment.
