In a surprising packaging error, Mattel’s recently released Wicked dolls, inspired by characters from the highly anticipated film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked, mistakenly direct buyers to an adult website instead of the official film site. Released on November 10 in advance of the movie’s November 22 theatrical debut, the dolls include a link on the back of the box reading “wicked.com,” which redirects to a pornographic website.

The official movie site is actually “wickedmovie.com,” making this oversight both startling and unintended. The mix-up was initially spotted by social media user Sarah Genao on X, drawing significant online attention, with several users confirming the same error on other doll boxes, particularly on eBay listings.
Though widespread on Mattel’s doll boxes, other Wicked merchandise, such as LEGO sets, appear to have correctly listed the official website. Fans have voiced both amusement and surprise over the incident, with the error trending on social media as fans and collectors discuss the mishap. As of now, Mattel has yet to release an official statement addressing the error, though the incident has undeniably heightened attention around both the doll release and the upcoming film.
