There were no reported injuries as 200 firefighters battled a massive blaze in Mexico City’s sprawling wholesale market Thursday night.
The Central de Abasto serves the capital’s other neighbourhood markets, restaurants, and areas throughout the country. According to Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum, the fire started in a section of the market where wooden pallets and crates are built and stored, implying that there was plenty of fuel on a breezy evening.
