The Mansa Court in Punjab on Friday remanded gangster Sachin Bishnoi, also known as Sachin Thapan, who was allegedly linked to the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, to Police custody until October 6.
Bishnoi was extradited from Azerbaijan last month and was brought to Mansa from Delhi by the Punjab Police on a production warrant, according to a senior police official.
Bishnoi is slated to be interrogated regarding his involvement in the Sidhu Moosewala case. He was allegedly part of the conspiracy and responsible for logistical aspects of the murder.
Although he was abroad at the time of the killing, he attempted to mislead investigators by claiming responsibility for shooting Moosewala.
Earlier, the Delhi Police revealed that Bishnoi had fled India using a fake passport and had reached Azerbaijan. There, he conspired with his associates to manage the activities of his organised crime group operating in Delhi and nearby states. A Red Corner Notice had also been issued for his arrest, and a Delhi Police team subsequently brought him back from Azerbaijan.
Bishnoi is also a suspect in several cases under investigation by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police.
Sidhu Moosewala, whose real name is Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was tragically shot and killed in Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
