MANN LAUNCHES SCHEME ‘LOK MILNI’ TO REDRESS GRIEVANCES OF PEOPLE, GETS 61 COMPLAINTS

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched first-of-its-kind flagship programme of his government ‘Lok Milni (public interaction)’ for redressal of grievances of people on the spot.

Chief Minister’s staff tried to meet people standing on the road and took applications physically, and ensured people on resolving their grievances soon. The Chief Minister said that this interactive programme is aimed at ensuring a single-window platform for the people for redressal of their complaints.

As many as 61 complainants listed their grievances before the Chief Minister during the programme at the Punjab Bhawan. Mann directed the top officers of the various departments to ensure immediate resolution of these complaints in a time-bound and result-oriented manner.

“I will be personally monitoring the status of these complaints every week. Any sort of dereliction in this act will not be tolerated at any cost.”

Meanwhile, addressing a complaint, the Chief Minister asked the department of Social Justice and Empowerment to immediately release the pending arrears of the ‘Shagun scheme’ to the eligible beneficiaries. On another complaint, Mann asked the Water Resources department to ensure that drinking water was supplied to every beneficiary without any prejudice. On the complaint of Dr Seema Rani, whose husband had passed away during the pandemic about two years ago, the Chief Minister asked the officers to ensure that she gets the job at the earliest as per the government’s policy.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is adopting a zero-tolerance policy towards the drug menace which would be wiped out of the state. “Fool proof and transparent result of the police recruitment test will be declared soon. The selected candidates will be given appointment letters soon.” Mann also issued a slew of instructions to various other departments for immediate resolution of public grievances.

Meanwhile, the aggrieved people who attended ‘Lok Milni’ with the Chief Minister hailed this noble and pro-people initiative of the government to give prompt relief to the people.

Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari, Director General of Police VK Bhawra, Additional Chief Secretaries Seema Jain, Sarabjit Singh, Anurag Aggarwal, and Anurag Verma, Principal Secretaries Tejvir Singh, RK Ghanta, Alok Shekhar, Vivek Pratap Singh, Secretaries Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Sumedh Singh Gurjar, Ajoy Sharma and others were also present.
