Manisha Choudhary of the Haryana cadre is named as Chandigarh’s first woman SSP Traffic and Security. Chaudhary, 2011 batch IPS, is currently posted as Superintendent of Police in Panipat. Among the three officers who came for SSP from the Haryana government, the UT administration has finalised Chaudhary’s name to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

She has been the SP in several districts including Hisar and was earlier SP Panchkula in Crime Against Women’s Cell. Shashank Anand, 2006 batch IPS, was relieved on 29 July after completing his three-year term. After this, Akari was in given its temporary charge, SP Headquarters and Crime Branch is with Manoj Kumar Meena.

In Chandigarh, SSP UT Punjab and SSP Traffic and Security Haryana become cadre IPS officers. The Haryana government had given three names which included 2010 batch IPS Surender Pal Singh, 2011 batch IPS Virender Singh and Manisha Chaudhary. In the city, apart from HaryanaPunjab, there is a movement of IAS-IPS officers including duties for Chief Ministers, Ministers, MLAs and Governors. Most police forces are deployed in VIP movement duty. SSP Traffic and Security bear the responsibility on the shoulder. Besides this, the cradle of traffic rules has to be closely monitored.
