Manipur Violence Continues: Two Women Killed, Many Injured in Attack by Kuki Militants

On Sunday, an attack allegedly carried out by Kuki militants resulted in the deaths of two women and injuries to many villagers in Koutruk, Manipur, according to the state government. The government reported that unarmed Koutruk villagers were targeted with drones, bombs, and sophisticated weapons.

The Manipur government condemned the attack, viewing it as a serious threat to the efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state. They emphasized that such acts of violence are seen as attempts to undermine the state’s peace efforts.

In response, the government has taken immediate action to control the situation and hold those responsible accountable. The Manipur Police noted that the attack involved highly trained individuals using advanced technology, such as RPGs and high-tech drones. This marks a significant escalation, with drones being used to deploy explosives against both security forces and civilians.

The police report that one civilian, Ngangbam Surbala, aged 31, died from bullet injuries, while her 8-year-old daughter sustained an arm injury. Additionally, two police personnel and three civilians were injured. The police have called for public restraint and are actively conducting combing operations to address any threats in the area.
