In the case of fake No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for organ transplantation, the Department of Medical, Health, and Medical Education, under the direction of Additional Chief Secretary Shubhra Singh, has initiated continuous action. On Wednesday, the authorized officer for organ and tissue transplantation suspended the registration and renewal certificate (Form-16 and 17) of Manipal Hospital located on Sikar Road in the capital, considering its suspicious role in the matter.
The authorized officer, Dr. Rashmi Gupta, explained that Manipal Hospital had been issued registration and renewal certificates for organ transplantation under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act. After the recent revelation of fake NOCs for organ transplantation, Giriraj Sharma, an employee from Fortis Hospital, was arrested in this case. This employee had previously worked at Manipal Hospital as well. His role in obtaining NOCs for organ transplantation at Manipal Hospital has also come to light.
The NOCs obtained by Manipal Hospital are also under suspicion, and investigations are underway by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the police in this matter. Considering this, the registration and renewal certificates for organ transplantation at Manipal Hospital were suspended on Wednesday. It is noteworthy that prior to this, the registration and renewal certificates for Fortis Hospital and EHCC Hospital in Jaipur were also suspended in the case of fake NOCs.
