Former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, vying for a record ninth term in Parliament, actively engaged with voters as she visited polling booths in Sultanpur during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections held on Saturday.

Gandhi, currently serving as a BJP MP from the constituency, encouraged citizens to exercise their voting rights enthusiastically, expressing confidence in the BJP’s prospects. “The results on June 4 will favor the BJP,” she asserted.

Acknowledging minor glitches with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at a few locations, Gandhi attributed these issues to insufficient training among polling officers and agent unfamiliarity. “It’s a hit-and-miss process,” she remarked in response to queries.

Sultanpur Lok Sabha constituency is witnessing a three-way battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Historically, Congress has secured victory eight times, while the BSP and BJP have won twice and four times, respectively.

The ongoing phase of the Lok Sabha polls spans 58 parliamentary constituencies across six states and two Union Territories (UTs). Notable battlegrounds include eight seats in Bihar, all 10 seats in Haryana, and seven seats in Delhi, among others. A total of 889 candidates are contesting in this phase.

With voting concluded, attention now turns to the tallying of votes scheduled for June 4.
