A 30-year-old man was detained for opening  the emergency door in mid-air, just before the jet was supposed to land at Daegu International Airport in South Korea on Friday.

The door was still open when the Asiana Airlines plane touched down at the Daegu airport.  According to authorities, over a dozen injured, nine of whom suffered from breathing issues, were sent directly to hospitals.

As per the reports, the man opened the emergency door while the plane was around 700 feet above the ground and about two to three minutes from touching down. The 30-year-old was detained upon landing, according to the Yonhap news agency.

A passenger shot the video from inside the plane when the incident took place, and now it has gone viral on social media.

The Asiana Airlines aircraft, flight OZ8124, had taken off from Jeju Island and was about to touch down in Daegu when the ugly incident happened. There were 200 people onboard, including 194 passengers.

In a statement, the Asiana Airlines authorities said the police were investigating the matter.
