Gachibowli police have detained a 35-year-old man for allegedly killing an expectant woman. The man reportedly encouraged his wife to file a domestic violence and dowry harassment complaint. The alleged crime took place last week in Kondapur, Hyderabad.

The accused has been identified as Kavuru Srirama Krishna and is believed to have grudges against the deceased’s family.

According to reports, the suspect was taken into prison by the court after being found guilty on Tuesday.

The software engineer, Vasusetti Venkatarama Krishna, and his wife, Vasusetti Sravanthi, were believed to be responsible for the dowry harassment complaint that Srirama’s wife, Lakshmi Prasanna, had lodged against him at the Chandanagar police station in Hyderabad a month earlier, according to the police. Srirama is a resident of Narsapuram in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

On the evening of September 6, Srirama allegedly went to Venkatarama’s residence to get retribution and found eight-month-pregnant Sravanthi alone there. The police assert that Srirama left Sravanthi lying on the ground after striking her in the head with a sickle he had taken with him. According to reports, Venkatarama was on his way to pick up his daughter from school at the time of the incident.

Sravanthi passed away suddenly that night, even though her neighbours hurried her to a private hospital right away for treatment. After making a complaint, the police started an investigation. The police discovered that Srirama had allegedly carried the sickle to Venkatarama’s house after buying it from Erragadda with the intention of killing him.
