The district administration in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on Wednesday razed an ‘illegal’ office of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) with a bulldozer.
The incident of razing the office took place in the Barua area of the district.
This is perhaps the first occasion in West Bengal that a TMC party office has been destroyed with the help of a bulldozer.
The district administration has taken this decision recently after the Cacutta High Court passed an order to destroy the TMC party office.
The district magistrate, along with a huge number of police personnel, arrived on the spot before the start of the demolition drive, and they ordered the JCB to demolish it.
Several TMC members arrived on the scene and asked the authorities not to demolish the party office. However, the district administration turned deaf ears and went ahead and completed their work.
