West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken decisive action following a tense meeting with protesting doctors. In response to their demands, Banerjee has announced the removal of two top health officials and the Kolkata Police Commissioner.

Key Changes Announced:

Health Officials Removed: The Director of Medical Education, Dr. Kaustav Nayek, and the Director of Health Services, Dr. Debashish Halder, have been removed from their positions.

Police Leadership Shake-Up: Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Abhishek Gupta, are being replaced.

Doctors’ Demands and Meeting Details:

The doctors’ demands included strict punishment for those involved in a recent tragic incident, improved security, and reform within the healthcare system. The meeting with Banerjee, held from 6:20 PM to 8:45 PM, ended with significant concessions but did not fully meet all the doctors’ demands.
