As the harrowing second wave continues to overwhelm the state of Haryana, it has come to light that males have exhibited higher mortality as compared to females in the state.
Out of the 5,605 deaths reported in Haryana till 10 May 2021, 3,605 have been men, which means 64% of Covid-related deaths have been reported in males. Data uploaded on the government website also shows that a total of 6,15,887 people have been infected by the virus, out of which 3,77,496 are males.
Apart from this, the number of severely ill patients is increasing exponentially and has witnessed a sharp spike as compared to last month. As of now, 1,495 patients in Haryana are either on oxygen support or ventilators. Among these, 1,123 patients are on oxygen while 272 have been put on ventilators.
The disease also continues to cause serious damage in rural areas. Several villages located in Rohtak, Sonipat, Bhiwani, Hisar and Karnal are among the worst-hit areas of the state.
The government has ordered the deployment of teams for testing people in villages so that the infected people can get timely treatment. The government has also decided to disburse funds to all villages to tackle the pandemic. To control further outbreak, isolation wards have to be set up in the rural areas and surveys are being conducted for the same.
