The Punjab government’s tableaus, showcasing the Great Warriors of Punjab, Mai Bhago – symbolizing Women Empowerment, and Punjabi Culture, made a profound impact as they traversed the roads of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district.
Upon entering Kurali, the locals, led by Jodha Singh Mann (father of Cabinet Minister Anmol Gagan Mann), warmly welcomed the tableaus. Mann praised Punjab’s unparalleled history and culture, commending the government’s efforts to display the tableaus prepared for National Republic Day, despite not being allowed to parade there.
The tableaus eloquently depicted the history of Punjab’s great warriors, including Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Dr Dewan Singh Kalepani, Madan Lal Dhingra, Lala Hardyal, Sardar Ajit Singh (Pagri Sambhal Jatta), Baba Khadag Singh, the saga of Jallianwala Bagh, and the inspiring story of Mai Bhago who motivated the 40 Muktas to rejoin the tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The representation of Punjabi Culture, including Phulkari, added vibrancy to the display.
The tableau route commenced from Kurali to Kharar, with a halt at Chappar Chirri Khurd before proceeding to the next destination the following day. In Kharar, Tehsildar Jaswinder Singh received the tableaus, attracting the attention of the people. Spectators not only observed the tableau narratives but also took selfies, expressing their belief that these depictions of great history and culture would serve as a valuable connection for the younger generation with their roots
