Imagine sipping coffee while watching the sunrise above Earth’s horizon from space. This vision is becoming a reality with startup Vast’s Haven-1 project, touted as the “World’s first commercial space station.” A recently released video showcases the station’s luxurious interiors, leaving viewers amazed.
“We’re excited to introduce the final design for Haven-1, a groundbreaking space station that sets a new standard for human-centric design, comfort, and productivity in space,” stated Vast, sharing the video unveiling their innovative space concept.
Mixed Reactions on Social Media
The public’s reaction varied, with some eagerly anticipating the station’s launch, while others expressed concerns about the private space endeavor. One YouTube user asked, “When will it be ready for operation?” Vast’s website indicates a launch window no earlier than August 2025, utilizing a SpaceX Dragon vehicle.
Conversely, some expressed unease, with comments like, “This scares me.” Meanwhile, others celebrated the idea, describing it as a “game changer” and an “amazing” concept.
Features of Haven-1
The Haven-1 design promises a range of features, including an “Observation deck” offering breathtaking views of Earth. Additionally, the station includes a “Patent-Pending Sleep System designed for optimal rest in zero gravity.” Other highlights are an “Onboard Fitness System” and “Warm, welcoming interiors with natural materials.”
Hillary Coe, Chief Design and Marketing Officer at Vast, emphasized the company’s vision, saying, “We have big ambitions to create a future where everyone is living and thriving on Earth and in space. This requires a shift in how we approach design for all backgrounds and comfort levels.”
Experienced Guidance in Design
The design team, led by Peter Russell-Clarke, worked with veteran NASA astronaut Andrew Feustel, ensuring that Haven-1 meets the highest standards of comfort and functionality.
