Governor Ravi Friday said that Lord Ram has deep connection with Tamil Nadu. On 75th Republic Day, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi spoke about various aspects including the recently inaugurated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and Lord Ram’s connection to the south state. Chief Minister MK Stalin and Speaker Appavu were present on the occasion.

Speaking about Lord Ram, Governor Ravi said, “Sri Ram has been our national icon and inspiration. He is the common thread that unites Bharat and lives in the hearts of every Bhartiya. He is an inspiration and his rule Rajya is an ultimate example of good governance, the ideals of which are enshrined in our Constitution. “His story has inspired and enriched Tamil literature since the Sangam period, constitutes the soul of Carnatic music, and has enriched our classical dance. It is in Tamil Nadu that the most ardent among the devotees of Sri Ram and great poet Kambar wrote in Tamil, the ‘Ramavataram’-long before the story of Sri Rama was told in other Bharatiya languages after the first one in Sanskrit.”

The Governor also spoke about the welfare projects initiated by the Centre and paid tribute to the martyrs, freedom fighters, and members of the armed forces who take care of India’s security and freedom. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to the armed forces, security agencies, and police for their relentless vigil, valour, and sacrifices in defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. He spoke about the important role that volunteers and voluntary organizations played during the natural disasters, especially cyclonic storm Michaung, and how they provided rescue and relief. TN CM MK Stalin did not attend the Republic Day High-Tea party organised at Raj Bhavan though DMK has not boycotted the event.

The DMK’s alliance partners, like Congress, CPI -M and VCK, however stated a few days back they will boycott the tea party citing that the Governor and his office were acting against the TN government which was democratically elected.
