Hours after the tragic incident where four soldiers, including an Army officer, lost their lives in an encounter in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress party launched a scathing critique of the central government. Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, expressed deep sorrow over the loss and blamed the BJP’s policies for the continuous wave of terrorist attacks.

“In yet another heartbreaking terrorist encounter in Jammu and Kashmir, our soldiers have sacrificed their lives. My heartfelt tributes to the martyrs and sincere condolences to their families. The repeated occurrence of such tragic incidents is deeply distressing and alarming. These attacks underscore the deteriorating situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Our soldiers and their families are paying the price for BJP’s flawed policies. Every patriotic Indian demands accountability from the government for these security lapses and urges strict action against those who threaten our nation and our soldiers. In this time of mourning, the entire nation stands united against terrorism,” Rahul Gandhi stated on X.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also criticized the government, accusing it of normalizing these attacks.

“We are deeply saddened by the martyrdom of four brave Army soldiers, including an officer, in the terror encounter in Doda, Jammu & Kashmir. Our hearts go out to the families of our brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. Our prayers are with the injured, and we wish them a speedy recovery. Strong condemnation is inadequate for these cowardly acts of violence by terrorists. The recent surge in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir over the past 36 days demands a serious reassessment of our security strategy. The Modi government’s approach seems business as usual, which is unacceptable. The increasing attacks in the Jammu region highlight the urgency for a truthful evaluation of our national security. We cannot compromise our security with false bravado and misleading narratives. As a nation, we must collectively combat cross-border terrorism. The Indian National Congress stands firmly with our courageous Armed Forces,” Kharge emphasized on X.

Earlier, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh pointed out the alarming rise in terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.

“In the last 78 days alone, Jammu has witnessed 11 terror attacks, a concerning development. While we must unite across party lines to respond effectively, we must also question the government on its earlier promises. What happened to the grand claims made by the self-proclaimed non-biological PM and the self-styled Chanakya?” Ramesh questioned on X.

The encounter in Doda unfolded on Monday night based on specific intelligence inputs, where joint operations by the Indian Army and JK Police were underway. General Upendra Dwivedi, Army Chief, briefed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh about the situation on Tuesday.
