As the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections commenced on Saturday, a sweets shop in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh’s Civil Lines area, enticed voters by offering complimentary ‘Rasmalai’ to those who cast their ballots. In a video circulated by news agency ANI, the shop’s staff were observed serving the delectable dessert to individuals displaying their inked fingers after voting.


In Prayagraj, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominated Neeraj Tripathi, while the Congress fielded Ujjwal Rewati Raman Singh. The voter turnout in Uttar Pradesh reached 37.23 percent by 1 pm, as polling took place in 14 constituencies.

Polling commenced at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm. According to the Election Commission, Ambedkar Nagar witnessed the highest turnout at 41.59 percent by 1 pm, followed by Basti at 40.07 percent, and Sultanpur at 38.42 percent. Conversely, Phulpur saw the lowest turnout at 33.05 percent. Uttar Pradesh, contributing the highest number of 80 MPs to the lower house, recorded the lowest voter turnout among the states at 43.95 percent.

West Bengal reported the highest turnout nationwide, with 70.19 percent, while Uttar Pradesh had the lowest. The ongoing Lok Sabha elections are being conducted in seven phases across the country from April 19 to June 1, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
