There is contest between prominent candidates from different political parties in the third phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on May 7. Amit Shah, Pralhad Joshi, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Digvijaya Singh, Digvijaya Singh, Supriya Sule of the NCP, and Dimple Yadav of the Samajwadi Party are few of the contenders.
This phase covers 93 Lok Sabha seats across 12 states and union territories, including Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
The Election Commission of India reported a total of 1,351 candidates contesting across these 93 seats, after scrutinizing 2,963 nominations. Several prominent candidates are participating in this phase:
- Amit Shah is seeking re-election from Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- Jyotiraditya Scindia is contesting from Guna, Madhya Pradesh.
- Dimple Yadav is seeking re-election from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh.
- Supriya Sule is contesting from Baramati, Maharashtra.
- Sunetra Pawar is contesting from Baramati, Maharashtra, against her sister-in-law Supriya Sule.
- Digvijay Singh is contesting from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh.
- Shivraj Singh Chouhan is contesting from Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh.
- Pralhad Joshi is seeking re-election from Dharwad, Karnataka.
- Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is contesting from Baharampur, West Bengal.
- Badruddin Ajmal is contesting from Dhubri, Assam.
The Lok Sabha elections are being held in seven phases, with the third phase being conducted on May 7. The results will be declared on June 4.
