The Congress party has entrusted a new responsibility to former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, as he takes on a crucial role in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The Congress has formed a committee to explore alliances with other parties for the elections, focusing on negotiating seat-sharing agreements. This committee includes leaders such as Ashok Gehlot, Mohan Prakash, Bhupesh Baghel, Mukul Vasnik, and Salman Khurshid. The inclusion of Gehlot and Baghel comes at a time when the Congress faced defeats in recent assembly elections in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, opposition parties are convening in Delhi for their fourth meeting today. However, the Congress has already established a ‘National Alliance Committee’ to leverage the experience of its senior leaders. In the elections slated for the next year, the Congress aims to deploy the expertise of its senior leaders, especially considering the recent losses in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan, where Congress senior leaders may play a pivotal role.
In the run-up to the General Elections-2024, Congress President Shri @kharge has constituted an National Alliance Committee, as follows, with immediate effect:
1. Shri Ashok Gehlot
2. Shri Bhupesh Baghel
3. Shri Mukul Wasnik- Convenor
4. Shri Salman Khurshid
5. Shri Mohan… pic.twitter.com/mUkyLF7yJt
