Election Commission sources have told The Daily Guardian that despite the split in the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), the command of the party is still in the hands of Chirag Paswan.

According to EC sources, quoting documents, so far, there has been no claim from the Paras faction on the Lok Janshakti Party or on the LJP’s election symbol bungalow and flag. In such a situation, how can the Commission accept the any other faction’s “right” on LJP without any faction claiming it?

However, sources told The Daily Guardian that information about the decisions taken by the Paras faction, along with the election of the president and other activities in the working committee of the Lok Janshakti Party, has definitely been given to the Election Commission. But this information is not sufficient to hear a “right” or “claim” on a party.

Till now, no delegation has met the Election Commission on behalf of the Paras faction, or regarding the party’s election symbol and claim on the party.

On the other hand, LJP president Chirag Paswan has already appealed to the Election Commission that if any claim is made on LJP, it should be rejected prima facie since the other faction wants to take over the party illegally. In such a situation, if the Election Commission has to take any decision, then Chirag Paswan’s side should be heard first.

Although no decision has been taken on this by the Election Commission, arrangements have been made in the Parliament. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, accepting the proposal of the Paras faction, has also approved him as the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. Apart from this, the Paras faction has formed a new national executive body and made itself the president of the party.
