A massive cloudburst triggered flash floods in Dharali villages of Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi. Many houses have been swept away and more than 50 people are reported missing. The cloudburst took place in the catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river, causing dreadful floods.
A local news agency informed PTI that 20-25 hotels and homestays might have washed away with the floods.
Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also expressed concern. He expressed on social media platform X, “The news of heavy damage caused by a cloudburst in the Dharali (Uttarkashi) region is extremely sad and distressing. SDRF, NDRF, district administration, and other related teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations on a war footing. In this regard, I am in constant contact with senior officials, and the situation is being closely monitored. I pray to God for everyone’s safety.”

Brigadier Mandeep Dhillon, Brigade Commander, stated that the landslide took place around 1:45 PM near Dharali village, approximately 4 km from the Indian Army camp at Harshil. Within ten minutes, the Army had deployed 150 personnel to the site, equipped with specialised medical and rescue gear, including doctors, who are actively involved in the ongoing rescue efforts.
In the wake of the cloudburst in Uttarkashi, AIIMS Rishikesh PRO Sandeep Kumar stated, “As soon as we received information about the incident, the Trauma Centre was alerted to ensure immediate treatment for any incoming patients.”

Commissioner Garhwal Mandal, Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed that there is no loss of property of life on the Sukhi Top due to the cloudburst that occurred in that region.
"However, the disadvantage is that the rain is extremely heavy, causing the water level to rise. Consequently, the situation is being closely monitored, and the priority is to evacuate people to safe areas. Our Army, NDRF, and SDRF teams are continuously engaged there. The floods were a result of a massive cloudburst that struck the Dharali villages of Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi.

Flash floods due to the massive cloudburst in Dharali, Uttarkashi on Tuesday claimed lives of at least 4 people, news agency PTI reported.
Union home minister Amit Shah clarified that three ITBP and four NDRF teams are dispatched to control the situation. He posted on social media platform X,
"Spoke with the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand regarding the flash flood incident in Dharali (Uttarkashi) to gather information about the event. Three nearby ITBP teams have been sent there, and four NDRF teams have also been dispatched to the site, which will soon arrive and engage in rescue operations."
Vinay Shankar Pandey, Commissioner Garhwal Mandal confirmed that several houses have been damaged due to the massive cloudburst. However, he said that it is not possible to say anything about the casualties right now.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah called CM of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami, taking details of the situation on the heavy damage caused by the cloudburst in Dhahral region, ANI reported.

The Indian Army's Surya Command stated that a large mudslide struck the Dharali village in Kheer Gad area, triggering debris and water to flow down, causing floods.
"Troops of Ibex Brigade were immediately mobilised and have reached the affected site to assess the situation and undertake rescue operations. Extent of damage is being ascertained and updates will follow as relief operations unfold," they added.
Uttarkashi police confirmed on X that due to the rising water levels in Kheer Gad in Harsil area, there are many reports of damage in Dharali. The police, SDRF, and disaster management and response teams are at the site for rescue operations.
"In view of this incident, everyone should maintain a safe distance from the river. Ensure that you, children, and livestock are kept at a safe distance from the river," they added.
