As the Parliament continues its debate on Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory strike against Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, key government figures are expected to speak in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Leader of the House JP Nadda are scheduled to address the Upper House, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to deliver the concluding remarks.
The debate on Operation Sindoor began in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, following the discussion in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The operation was launched in response to the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the Lok Sabha debate, declaring that India’s armed forces avenged the Pahalgam attack in just 22 minutes, destroying terror launchpads located in “different corners of Pakistan.”
The Prime Minister described the ongoing session of Parliament as a “Vijay Utsav” (victory celebration), highlighting the military’s swift response and the nation’s unified front in the face of terrorism.
Following the PM’s speech, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju appealed to the Opposition to rise above “cheap politics,” asserting that the government had clearly articulated its position through the Prime Minister’s address.
Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing the Rajya Sabha, responded sharply to the Congress party’s questions over the timing of the operation that eliminated the Pahalgam terrorists. He said: “Yesterday, you (Congress) were asking why they (Pahalgam terrorists) were killed on this day? Why should they not have been killed yesterday? Because Rahul Gandhi was supposed to deliver his speech? It doesn’t work like this. The entire country is seeing that Congress’ priority is not national security and ending terrorism but it is politics, their vote bank and appeasement politics.” Shah criticized the Opposition for prioritizing political agendas over national security. ...

The Opposition staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha to protest the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the House during the Operation Sindoor debate.
Amid Opposition chants of “PM ko bulao” (Call the Prime Minister) in the Rajya Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah pushed back, questioning the demand. He said:
“Why call the PM? He has already replied in the Lok Sabha. I am giving the reply, no!”
As Union Home Minister Amit Shah started his response during the Rajya Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, the Opposition erupted in loud sloganeering, disrupting proceedings.
