Today, chaos erupted in the Lok Sabha as the Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced three key bills, that is, The Constitution 130 Amendment Bill, 2025, The Government of Union Territories Amendment Bill, 2025 and The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Amendment Bill, 2025.

The bills encountered vocal opposition from the members of the opposition, who alleged that they pose a threat to the federal structure of the country, while some papers were allegedly thrown at Mr. Shah during his speech.

The bills aim at establishing a statutory provision for the removal of the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers or Ministers in States and Union Territories who are “arrested and detained in custody on serious criminal charges.” The government confirmed that the bills would be referred to a Joint Committee for wider scrutiny.

Earlier, Ashwini Vaishnaw introduced Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 in the Lower House. Despite several protests, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju assured that government would continue its legislative business.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Manickam Tagore submitted an Adjournment Motion Notice seeking discussion on the Election Commission, particularly the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar.

In all of this, the Lok Sabha passed the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025, while Rajya Sabha today approved the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025 even with continuous disruptions.
