Over 300 MPs from 25 Opposition parties are set to march from Parliament to the Election Commission of India (ECI) headquarters in Delhi today. The protest targets alleged “vote chori” (vote theft) in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar.
The rally, scheduled to start at 11:30 AM from Parliament’s Makar Dwar, will see participation from the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress (TMC), DMK, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Left parties, RJD, NCP (SP), Shiv Sena (UBT), and the National Conference.

The Election Commission has permitted up to 30 Opposition leaders to attend a scheduled interaction at 12 pm on Monday, citing space constraints. It has also requested their names and vehicle details in advance.
The meeting was approved following a request from Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, made on behalf of several political parties. The Commission’s letter confirming the appointment did not mention the meeting’s agenda.

During the Opposition’s protest against the Election Commission over Bihar’s SIR, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav alleged that the poll body ignored incidents of booth capturing in the recent Uttar Pradesh by-elections.

Both Houses have been adjourned till 2 pm amid Opposition uproar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and demands for a parliamentary debate.
Earlier, security was stepped up and barricades were placed outside Transport Bhawan as the INDIA bloc MPs prepared to march from Parliament to the Election Commission headquarters. The protest focuses on the Bihar SIR exercise and alleged “voter fraud” in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The Election Commission of India will meet a Congress delegation at noon on Monday, following a formal request from the party.
In a letter addressed to Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, the EC secretariat said it had “considered the request and decided to grant an appointment for an interaction.” The communication noted that Ramesh had sought the meeting “on behalf of certain political parties.”
Citing limited space, the EC has asked for the names of up to 30 participants along with their vehicle details. The letter did not specify the agenda for the discussion.
