Will Smith And Martin Lawrence Share Amusing Annoyances At ‘Bad Boys: Ride Or Die’ Premiere

Long-time friends and on-screen partners Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, known for their roles in the ‘Bad Boys’ franchise, revealed the minor quirks about each other that get on their nerves during the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’, reported People.

Smith then shared, “It’s not a hate, but there’s a fun quirk that makes me laugh about Martin all the time. He never takes two sips out of a water bottle. He drinks the whole water bottle in one go, every time. It’s like, ‘Yo, man!’ ” Lawrence jokingly retorted, “That’s because I can’t babysit water.”

The duo, who portray Miami-based detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, reflected on the journey to complete the fourth instalment of the blockbuster action film series, set to hit theatres on June 7.

Production for ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ began in Atlanta in April 2023 but faced a significant interruption in July due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Filming resumed post-strike and wrapped up in March 2024. Discussing the challenges faced during production, Smith and Lawrence both agreed that finishing the movie was the toughest part. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer praised the dynamic between Smith and Lawrence, noting that there was “never a dull moment” with the pair. “They’re creative and fun. They’re so great to work with,” he said. “There’s never any arguments, we just have a blast going through the process, and it’s a long process to get these made.”

Bruckheimer emphasized that Smith and Lawrence are just as enjoyable off-camera as they are on-screen. “Will and Martin are no different. They’re great in front of the camera and they’re fun off camera, they really are,” he said. “They’re good friends and I love being with them, and they’re just great talents. The world is a better place with Will and Martin in it.”

The upcoming ‘Bad Boys’ film, as per the trailers, features Mike and Marcus on the run after their commanding officer, Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano), is murdered and accused of wrongdoing. The movie, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who also helmed the third instalment, ‘Bad Boys for Life’, in 2020, stars Vanessa Hudgens, Eric Dane, Alexander Ludwig, Tasha Smith, Ioan Gruffudd, Tiffany Haddish, Paola Nunez, Jacob Scipio, and Melanie Liburd. ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ will be in theaters on June 7.
