Milind Soman, who is perhaps best known as India’s first male supermodel, recently stunned with a come-back to the catwalk — and in keeping with his nature, he did it on his own terms. Barefoot and draped in a shimmering gold saree, oozing relaxed charisma, Soman stepped into the limelight as the showstopper for Rudralife, presenting a moment that blended fashion with brazen self-expression.
Working with fashion house Suta, the tryst was to be rule-breaking and stereotype-busting. Though the saree Milind wore was anything but traditional, it was a symbolically rich act. Made of golden silk of rich opulence, the fabric was outstanding for its dignity and modernistic chic, being a perfect blend of tradition and avant-garde fashion. Highlighting the moment, Suta wrote, “They said sarees are only for women…@milindrunning : Hold my swag!”

Instead of draping the saree in its classic form, Milind chose to wear it dhoti-style. a sartorial choice that emphasized his belief that “style has no gender. “His walk on the runway conveyed a powerful message that fashion is not bound by rules, gender, or expectation.
Complementing the visual effect, Milind also sported the dramatic Indra Mala, a sacred rudraksha mala — representing spiritual inclusivity. With quiet confidence, he defied the idea that rudraksha is age-bound, faith-bound, or gender-bound. As the look suggested, it’s “a universal energy for everyone.”
With his unmistakable grace and trailblazing style, Milind Soman once again reminded us why he remains an icon — someone who doesn’t just talk about change but embodies it with every stride.
