‘Line of Duty’ Actor Brian McCardie Passes Away At 59

Actor Brian McCardie, renowned for his portrayal of crime boss Tommy Hunter in ‘Line of Duty,’ has passed away at the age of 59. His sister Sarah announced his sudden demise at home on Sunday, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian James McCardie (59), beloved son, brother, uncle, and dear friend to so many. Brian passed away suddenly at home on Sunday 28th April. A wonderful and passionate actor on stage and screen, Brian loved his work,” she shared.

“He touched many lives and is gone much too soon. We love him and will miss him greatly; please remember Brian in your thoughts. Funeral arrangements will be announced in the days ahead. As a family, we would ask for privacy at this time,” Sarah added.

Netizens expressed their condolences in the comment section, remembering McCardie’s impactful performances. “Sorry for your loss. Didn’t know your brother, but from the comments on here, he sounds like a hell of a guy. Always enjoyed his performances on screen. RIP,” one user wrote.

Born on January 22, 1965, near Glasgow, McCardie began his acting career with a role on the BBC soap opera EastEnders. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Tommy Hunter in the first two seasons of the BBC drama Line of Duty (2012-14) and appeared in several other British series such as Time, Crime, The Tower, Domina, and the miniseries Rebellion.

McCardie’s film credits include roles in Rob Roy, Filth, and The Damned United, where he portrayed Scottish football legend Dave Mackay.
