Karan Johar Announces ‘Dhadak 2’ With Siddhant Chaturvedi And Triptii Dimri, First Poster Out

Triptii Dimri, who emerged as the ‘National Crush’ with her bold performance in ‘Animal’, is set to star opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi of ‘Gully Boy’ fame in ‘Dhadak 2’. On Monday, May 27, Producer Karan Johar took to Instagram to share the movie’s motion poster. In it, Siddhant and Triptii are seen sharing an intimate moment.

In a voiceover, the ‘Inside Edge’ star says “Jo sapna tum dekh rahi ho Vidhi usme mere liye koi jagah nahi hai (The dream that you have Vidhi, there is no place for me in it).”

To this, Triptii responds “Toh phir yeh bhi bata do Neelesh ki in feelings ka kya karun (Then let me know Neelesh, what should I do with my feelings)?”

In his post, Karan Johar described ‘Dhadak 2’ as a film about love and caste.

“Yeh kahani hai thodi alag kyuki ek tha raja, ek thi raani, jaat alag thi, khatam kahani (This story is a little different because there was a king, there was a queen – their castes were different… end of story),”read his post.

‘Dhadak 2’ is a follow-up to the 2018 film ‘Dhadak’, which marked Janhvi Kapoor’s Bollywood debut. The second installment of the ‘Dhadak’ saga is directed by Shazia Iqbal and will hit screens on November 22.

Pinkvilla had nearly a year ago reported that Karan Johar was keen on taking the ‘Dhadak’ franchise forward.

“Dhadak was essentially an intense tale of love, with two protagonists fighting the society to live together. The filmmaker believes that this zone of going against all odds for love has potential to get a franchise value. After contemplating on several subjects, the filmmaker has greenlit a subject that qualifies to be a sequel to Dhadak,” a source had told the portal.

However, Karan Johar had back then denied the rumours and stated that Dharma Productions was not working on ‘Dhadak 2’.

In case you didn’t know, Dhadak was a remake of Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat and centred on the relationship between two people from different backgrounds. The film emerged as a commercial success despite receiving negative reviews. It remains to be seen whether the sequel too does well at the box office.

‘Dhadak 2’ is set to release in theatres on November 22.
