In a significant stride towards promoting innovation, incubation, skill development, and entrepreneurship in the Union Territory, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha laid the foundation stone for the Innovation Tower at the University of Jammu. This cutting-edge facility, to be completed in two phases under the Capex budget of 2023-24, is poised to become a central hub for transformative initiatives.

The Innovation Tower aims to facilitate ideation, collaboration, and discussion of new concepts among the youth. Lieutenant Governor Sinha highlighted its role in reducing the duration of the incubation period by providing testing facilities for future projects. The facility is designed to encourage startups and create an ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The distinguished facility will be a one-of-a-kind establishment, housing key centers such as the Atal Innovation Centre & Data Analytical Centre, Skill Development & Career Progression Centre, and an Innovation Council. Additionally, it will feature a dedicated space for the “Design Your Degree” Innovative Undergraduate Program, offering students a unique and flexible learning experience.

During the foundation stone-laying ceremony, Lieutenant Governor Sinha directed the planning team to ensure the space is flexible, with in-built capabilities. He stressed the importance of multiple spaces for future technologies, fostering intellectual collisions, and creating opportunities for experience sharing among students and mentors.
Presently approved for construction with G+3 floors in Phase-I, the Innovation Tower has provisions for expansion to G+7 floors in Phase-II, showcasing the potential for future growth and development.

Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department; Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of Jammu University; senior officials, faculty members, and students of the University graced the occasion, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards a more innovative and vibrant academic landscape in the Union Territory.
