The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended elevation of Shri Justice Jaswant Singh, Judge, Orissa High Court as Chief Justice of the Tripura High in its meeting held on 25 January 2023, on reconsideration and in supersession of its earlier recommendation dated 28.09.2022. Therefore, the earlier recommendations were made as per resolution dated 28.09.2022, was to appoint Justice Jaswant Singh as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. At present, the Tripura High Court has only one judge, who is performing as the Acting Chief Justice. The court noted that on 28.09.2022, it has been recommended by the Collegium that the transfer of the Orissa High Court Chief Justice S Muralidhar as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court. While the recommendations are being approved by the Centre in the same resolution for transfer of another Chief Justice, the proposal with regards to the transfer of Justice Muralidhar is kept on hold.
