Lance Morris, an uncapped pacer, was cut from the Australian team to play in the Big Bash League ahead of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.

Morris might have made his Australian team debut, but Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins were all in excellent form, so the 25-year-old was kept off the field.

Morris has been released from the squad to play for the Perth Scorchers and will be available for their upcoming match at Optus Stadium on December 20 against the Hobart Hurricanes, with Scott Boland serving as the reserve player.

National selector George Bailey stated, citing ESPNcricinfo, “Lance has been released for the Melbourne match but will stay prepared for Test cricket as he remains firmly in our plans for the summer, should an opportunity arise.”
