For the first time, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars have teamed up for a romantic track titled “Die With a Smile,” as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The music video features both artists performing on a “retro stage,” with Mars sporting a cowboy hat and Gaga dazzling in bright red tights. Although rumors about their collaboration had been circulating, the artists confirmed the news through their social media channels.
Gaga shared that the song is a special treat for fans while they await her upcoming album, LG7, which currently has no release date. She announced on social media, “WHILE YOU WAIT TILL LG7… ‘DIE WITH A SMILE,’ a duet with @brunomars.”
“Die With a Smile” marks some of the first new music from both artists in recent years. Gaga’s last major solo album was Chromatica in 2020, though she released a collaborative album with Tony Bennett in 2021 and the hit “Hold My Hand” for Top Gun: Maverick in 2022. Mars, whose last major solo album was in 2016, won two Grammys in 2022 for his Silk Sonic project with Anderson Paak.
In a press release, Gaga praised Mars for his extraordinary talent and vision, recounting how they stayed up all night to finish the song after she visited his studio. Mars echoed her sentiments, expressing his honor at collaborating with Gaga and his excitement for fans to hear the track.
“Die With a Smile” is co-produced by Gaga, Mars, D’Mile, and Andrew Watt, with the video directed by Daniel Ramos and Mars. Gaga will next be seen alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Joker: Folie À Deux, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
