Amid reports of senior Congress leader Kumari Selja not happy with the party and staying away from campaigning in Haryana assembly polls and BJP sending signals, party sources said that she will not join the saffron party and dubbed former union minister views as party’s internal matter.

The speculations of Selja to join BJP gained momentum after former Haryana Chief Minister and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar offered her to join the BJP.

Selja, who is one of the senior most Dalit lsaders in the state has raised eyebrows with her absence from the Congress’s campaign for the Haryana Assembly election.

She has been meeting with the party workers from the state at her residence in the national capital.

The party sources said that Selja would not be joining BJP and dubbed the rift as internal party matter.

The source said that Selja is angry with two or three leaders of Haryana.

The party source said that BJP is making up the issue to suit its narrative in Haryana assembly polls.

Speaking to The Daily Guardian, senior party leader Pawan Khera said, “We know how he has been treated in Haryana by his own party. He was removed as Chief Minister of the state after nine and half years.”

Khera said that this is the report card of Khattar Ji.

“Before commenting on us (Congress) see what your party has done with you. And we are not going to take you in our party, as we know you have been making reuquests but we will not accept you,” he added.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Khattar’s remarks that he can sense Kumari Selja’s pain, he said, “I can understand as he too was thrown as Chief Minister after nine and half years.”

He said that in Congress there are lot senior leaders with immense experience and “our leaders have freedom to express their views whereas in BJP this is not allowed”.

“We respect our party views. And this character of Congress, BJP or Nadda cannot understand that,” he said.

Polling for 90 member Haryana assembly is scheduled on October 5 and counting of votes will take place on October 8.

Congress is looking to make a comeback in the assembly polls in the state where the party is out of power for last 10 years. On the other hand BJP is also trying hard to win the third consecutive term in the state.
