Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy urged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday to investigate a case related to a purported “obscene video” allegedly linked to JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna.

“If it is necessary. We only going to request honorable courts to direct the central government to refer this issue to CBI, let us see, inquiry may be conducted by the CBI,”
ANI secured an exclusive interview with HD Kumaraswamy.

The JD(S) leader also stated that just three days before the elections, various opposition factions, including certain members of the Congress and a Bharatiya Janata Party leader, collaborated to tarnish Prajwal’s and the Devegowda family’s reputation.

Kumaraswamy asserted that the Congress, in a last-ditch effort after their campaign faltered, was resorting to desperate measures and had misused their power by distributing pen drives containing objectionable material.

Speaking to ANI, HD Kumaraswamy stated, “Three days before going to the polls, some sections of our opposition groups particularly some Congress leaders including one BJP leader, colluded. After the unsuccessful campaign and internal backstabbing, they knew that there was no success for them. So before going to the polls, they decided to circulate some pen drives about Prajwal Revanna, whether they are fake or genuine, I do not know.”

On Tuesday, the Janata Dal (Secular) core committee suggested the suspension of Prajwal Revanna, who is under investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with an alleged obscene video case.

Prajwal Revanna, the Member of Parliament representing Hasan and a leader of the BRS, is the grandson of HD Deve Gowda, who served as the former Prime Minister.
During a joint press conference in Bengaluru, JD(S) core committee chairman GT Devegowda announced the decision to recommend Revanna’s suspension to the party’s national president.
The JD(S) leader, who supported the Bharatiya Janata Party, subsequently censured the Congress for casting aspersions on the BJP and the Prime Minister.

“Why these congress friends are blaming the BJP? Why they are blaming Narendra Modi ji, what is the role of Narendra Modi ji in this issue or any BJP leaders?” Kumaraswamy asked.

In the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, held in Hassan, Karnataka on April 26, Prajwal Revanna is the candidate representing the BJP-JD(S) alliance.

Moreover, Kumaraswamy asserted that the JD(S) MP would not receive backing from the party if he were to lose the case.

“Anything goes wrong with this Prajwal. We are not going to support him also as a family. Also, we are ready to direct or request the concerned authorities take necessary action if he goes wrong,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has requested the Karnataka Director General of Police to submit a detailed report on the Prajwal Revanna case within three days, acting on its own accord.

“The National Commission for Women has come across multiple media reports indicating that several video clips of a sexual nature, allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna sitting MP for Lok Sabha from Hassan constituency sexually abusing hundreds of women were circulated on social media in recent days,” the NCW stated in its notice.
