The father of the Kolkata trainee doctor who was brutally raped and murdered inside the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has refused to accept compensation, stating it would dishonor his late daughter. Instead, he emphasized his desire for “justice.”

In a recent statement to reporters, the grieving father said, “I have turned down the compensation. Accepting money for her death would be disrespectful. I seek justice for my daughter.”

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is handling the case, met with the victim’s family on Thursday. While the father chose not to disclose the details of the meeting, he revealed that the CBI assured them of the imminent arrest of the accused.

The father expressed his gratitude to the public for their support during this difficult time. He acknowledged the global outcry and the widespread protests, thanking everyone who has shown solidarity. “I consider those who stand with us as my own children,” he said.

The trainee doctor of Kolkata was found murdered in a seminar hall of the hospital where she was working a night shift. The post-mortem report indicated severe injuries, including genital torture.

On Wednesday, the victim’s father highlighted his daughter’s dedication and her ambition to excel in her medical studies. He shared a diary entry revealing her goal to achieve gold medal status in her postgraduate course.

The CBI Special Crime Branch has summoned five doctors and hospital staff for questioning as part of their investigation. This case has sparked outrage worldwide, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning it during his Independence Day speech, underscoring the need for stringent legal measures to deter crimes against women.
